My Granny's and Mammy's Crochet

I was thinking of crocheting with the wedding dress strips that I have stored from a previous semester as I was looking for something more delicate than the heavy crochet afghans. As I was going through some things I found a bag stuffed full of crochet dollies that I inherited from my Granny and Mammy. I have always loved them and realized that they were exactly what I was looking for. They are delicate and beautiful and each stitch was done by my loved ones. These will be included in my upcoming installation. The images are of some trial and error ideas that I am working with.

Sometimes when I go on a search for crochet items for upcoming installations, I can't help but wonder if I am buying the things that the sales clerks think will never sell. This is a crochet doll dress. I love the ruffles! I like the emptiness of the dress. Often when I find crochet doll clothing it is on the doll that it was made for. I wonder where the doll could be??

Sculptural Crochet

The photos below show some interesting sculptural crochet that I have found and am learning to create. Crochet is a medium that does not have to be flat such as afghan but can be made into many different forms.
